Odysseys was a piece that I created for the NOSTOS Conference: War, The Odyssey & Narratives of Return at the University of South Carolina. The original piece transposed elements and text from the original Odyssey onto the life of a returning Iraqi War veteran. The show opens on an airplane. Ed is traveling home after his tour in Iraq. The plane hits some heavy turbulence and soon is spiraling towards the earth. It’s at this moment that the woman in the seat next to Ed reveals that she is, in fact, the goddess Athena and that she is there to get Ed home.
